Middle School Required Summer Reading 2008

In accordance with the Central Bucks School District and the Pennsylvania State Academic Standards, all middle school students in our district are expected to do a significant amount of reading throughout the entire year.  The state standard recommends twenty-five books per year.

All students entering grades seven, eight, and nine must read at least two books over the summer.  One of the books must be chosen from the appropriate grade-level list provided below.  The other book should be selected based on personal interest, parent recommendation, and reading ability.  It need not be from the grade level book list.

When students begin the new school year, they will be required to complete an activity related to one of the two required books.  Students should make sure they have completed the reading of the two books before returning to school.   Click HERE to view lists for students entering grade 7, 8, and 9.

High School Required Summer Reading 2008

Students should select and read one book from the list for their grade and course level. This assignment should be completed before the beginning of the semester during which the student has English class. Early in the semester, students will complete a follow-up assessment based on the summer reading books. This assessment will be graded.  Click HERE to view lists for students entering grade 10, 11, and 12.
