Career Academy of Central Bucks
CBSD Home > Curriculum > Career Academy

The mission of the Career Academy is to provide meaningful, community-based opportunities for the students of the Central Bucks School District. The Career Academy fosters relationships with community resources to allow our students to explore careers in a way that offers a unique, workplace context. These opportunities can either be through a partnership or internship.

Internships:  District internship programs provide students with the opportunity to investigate potential careers and receive academic credit at the same time. Central Bucks has a very limited number of community internship possibilities; some of the most acceptable are internships located in the fields of: business, the arts, journalism, environmental science, and elementary education. Individual internship requests are researched and scheduled independently by the District Coordinator. Most internships are scheduled during the 4th block of a designated marking period or after the regular school day ends.

All internships require completion of 40+ hours of work as well as three components: (1) a portfolio of learning, (2) field training in the career choice, (3) a final presentation of the portfolio for review.

Please see your school counselor for an application or click below.

NOTE: Internships are coordinated between the school district and a community organization or business. A personal interview with the candidate is held before student placement is determined. A district committee must approve applications prior to acceptance into the program.

Transportation is the responsibility of the student.

Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation, a 3.0 grade point average, and completion of the application. Please word process the essay.

Students receive a P/F grade upon successful completion of the internship. Internships are open to seniors in good academic standing.

Partnerships: The Central Bucks School District launched the Partnership Program in 1994 to offer students a pathway into the 21st century.  Presently this program gives students an opportunity to experience learning outside the classroom by making the connection between what they do in the classroom and the real world.  Working as partners, the community and the school district together enhance the curriculum and provide innovative and powerful learning environments.
