8th Grade Family and Consumer Sciences

      Family and Consumer Sciences 8 is a required hands-on class which continues to prepare students for independent living while building wise consumer habits. With an emphasis on cooperative learning, students explore food safety and product labeling as they prepare nutritional recipes. They also learn and apply skills for clothing care and repair.

     As part of the money management unit, students experience decision making through a simulated job scenario requiring them to manage household finances. Service learning opportunities are provided as part of the coursework.
