| The goal of the induction program is to help the beginning teacher develop and enhance: |
Competence: Mastery of the knowledge, skills, and application that effective teaching requires
Self-Confidence: Belief in one’s ability to make good decisions, to be responsible, and to be in control
Self-Direction: The assurance and ability to take charge of one’s personal, professional, and career development
Professionalism: To understand and assume the responsibilities and ethics of the profession

| Objectives: |
To provide teachers with a working knowledge of district curriculum and materials
To enhance instructional delivery skills through opportunities in areas such as, but not limited to: motivating students, monitoring student progress, using active teaching and direct instruction models, emphasizing academic and learning skills, adjusting to different teaching styles and learning styles, recognizing and providing for individual differences, setting instructional goals and expectations, and using purpose-setting, demonstration, practice, recitation, and review
To provide assistance in classroom management and organization
To familiarize new teachers with district and building facilities, policies, and procedures
To acquaint new teachers with professional responsibilities and district expectations
To provide a system of support
To identify needs of the new teacher and to develop plans for experiences to help him/her grow in the profession
To assist new teachers in developing relationships with children, families, colleagues, and the community
