Prior to her appointment as principal of the district's newest elementary school in 2004, Dr. Garvin served as the assistant principal of Mill Creek Elementary School which opened in September, 2000. She taught elementary school in the district beginning in 1992 and also served as a professional development liaison.

Dr. Garvin earned a B.S. in Elementary Education, a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and Administrative Certification from Pennsylvania State University.  She completed her doctorate in Educational and Organizational Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania in the spring of 2006.

Dr. Garvin enjoys spending time with her husband, Tom, and two sons, TJ and Matthew.   Dr. Garvin  is a certified SCUBA diver, although she has yet to travel somewhere to dive, likes travelling, watching her sons' participate in sports, and going to Penn State football games with her "guys."
