Bucks County Reading Olympics
What is it?
Reading Olympics is a fun night of celebrating books and reading. Each student is on a tenullam with 8-12 other students and together they are responsible for reading 45 books from a list selected by county librarians and teachers. On the night of the competition, we travel to our assigned school and meet with teams from other elementary schools in Bucks County.
During the competition evening, all teams participate in three rounds of questions. Teams are never eliminated. At the end of the night, all students receive a ribbon, determined by the number of points their team earned during the evening.
Who may join?
Any 5th or 6th grader may sign up!
What is involved?
Every student will read 8-10 books from the Reading Olympics book list. The books are available in the Gayman school library. Every month, we will meet together during a recess time. During this time, each team will quiz one another on the contents of the books they are reading
When is it? and where?
This year the competition will be March 25, 2010 (Thursday) from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at a place to be decided. Every student is responsible for their own transportation.
What about the pizza party?
This year the pizza party will be at lunch time on the day after the Reading Olylmpics in the library!
