OPUS
Congratulations to Opus!! For the third year in a row they were named the best Junior High/Middle School Literary Art Magazine in the Nation! This award is only given to one school of over one thousand who submit their work for consideration.
OPUS is Unami Middle School's Literary Arts Magazine. For the last two years OPUS has won awards for the Most Outstanding Literary Arts Magazine and Special Merit, First Place for a middle school of under 1000 students. In all of our prior years, OPUS has won First Place. Our student staff create the magazine for Spring publication and competition every year.
New staff members are added every year, but since the student demand for participation has gone up, we have had to ask students to apply each fall for a spot. Spots are filled when 9th graders leave for South High School. We have had only a few members drop out over the last six years, so staff members remain the same all year. In fact, most members, who join the staff in 7th grade, stay on staff for all three of their middle school years. We are very proud of that fact.
We publish art of all medias, photography, poetry, short stories and essays. If you are a budding artist or writer, please ask Mrs. Jones, Mr. Kesilman, or your English teacher about getting published in this year's OPUS magazine. Don't procrastinate as this year's deadline falls in March.
